FIELD OF THE INVENTION [001] The present invention relates to a cutting tool and a cutting insert for use in metal cutting processes in general and for turning operations in particular. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION [002] Within the field of cutting tools used in turning operations, there are many examples of cutting inserts that are removably attached to an insert receiving cavity in a tool holder. In some cases, these cutting tools are configured in such a way that the cooperating surfaces of the cutting insert and the insert receiving cavity are formed with projections and recesses. In other cases, these cutting tools are configured in such a way that the cooperating surfaces of the cutting insert and the insert receiving cavity are formed with male and female coupling elements. [003] US 7,201,545 describes a cutting tool having a tool holder, a shim and an interchangeable cutting insert. The wedge, having a substantially rhomboidal shape with substantially parallel upper and lower sides, is mounted in a tool holder cavity. The cutting insert, having a substantially rhomboidal shape, in analogy with the wedge, is mounted against the wedge, so that three out of six projections on a lower side of the cutting insert are on an 'active' backrest with two support surfaces on the upper side of the wedge, while two recesses on the upper side of the wedge provide clearance for the other three 'passive' projections. Aligning the cutting insert 180 ° results in the three 'active' projections becoming 'passive' and vice versa. [004] US 7,387,474 describes a cutting tool having a tool holder with an insert seat and an interchangeable cutting insert, with a basic rhombic shape, mounted thereon. The insert seat includes two male coupling portions in the form of elongated ridges oriented 90 ° to each other and forming a T-shaped configuration. A lower side of the cutting insert includes two series of female coupling portions, each series having two elongated grooves oriented at 90 ° to each other. In each alignment position each of the cutting insert, one series is actively engaged with the two elongated ridges and the other series is inactive. [005] It is an object of the present invention to provide an improved cutting tool. [006] It is also an object of the present invention to regularly distribute the clamping force between the cutting insert and the insert holder and obtain a stable three point clamping. [007] It is another object of the present invention to provide an engagement configuration between the cutting insert and the insert holder that provides good resistance to lateral cutting force components at the cutting edge of the operating tip of the insert. [008] It is another object of the present invention to provide a tool holder that can be efficiently manufactured. [0018] Fig. 6 is a bottom view of a 'double-sided' cutting insert according to some embodiments of the present invention. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION [0019] The present invention relates to a cutting tool 20 comprising a tool holder 22 having a main body 24 with an insert receiving cavity 26 formed at a front end 28 thereof and a generally interchangeable cutting insert rhomboidal 30, 30 'removably secured in the insert receiving cavity 26 by means of a holding member 32. [0020] In some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the cutting tool 20 may be in the form of a turning tool, having a retaining rod 34 extending outwardly from the front end 28 of the main body 24. [0021] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, the tool holder 22 can be manufactured from machined steel and the cutting insert 30, 30 'can preferably be manufactured by pressing in conformation and sintering a cemented carbide, such as tungsten carbide and can be coated or uncoated. [0022] According to the present invention, as shown in Figs. 1, 4 and 6, the generally rhomboidal shaped cutting insert 30, 30 'has opposite upper and lower surfaces 36, 38 and a peripheral side surface 40 extending between them, the peripheral side surface 40 having obtuse corner surfaces and alternating acute pain 42, 44 separated by four relief surfaces 46. [0023] In some embodiments of the present invention, the four relief surfaces 46 can be flat. [0024] Also according to the present invention, a cutting edge of the tip 48 is formed at the intersection of at least one of the upper and lower surfaces 36, 38 with each of the two sharp corner surfaces 44. [0025] In some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 6, an inclined surface 50 can be formed on at least one of the upper and lower surfaces 36, 38 adjacent to each cutting edge of the tip 48. [0026] According to the present invention, as shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 6, a central geometric axis A1 passes through the upper and lower surfaces 36, 38, around whose central geometric axis A1 the cutting insert 30, 30 'is interchangeable. [0027] In some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, a holding hole 52 can extend coaxially with the central geometry axis A1 and open to at least one of the upper and lower surfaces 36, 38. [0028] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, the cutting insert 30, 30 'may have double rotational symmetry around the central geometric axis A1. [0029] According to the present invention, as shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 6, at least one of the upper and lower surfaces 36, 38 comprises an engagement surface 54 having five engagement ridges and / or grooves 56, 58, the five engagement ridges and / or grooves 56, 58 comprising a single primary coupling element 56 and four secondary coupling elements 58. [0030] In some embodiments of the present invention, the engagement surfaces 54 may have exactly five engagement ridges and / or grooves 56, 58. [0031] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, when the cutting insert 30, 30 'is seen axially along the central geometric axis A1, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, the four secondary engaging elements 58 may be located entirely within an imaginary circle S circumscribing the two obtuse corner surfaces 42 and the primary engaging element 56 may intercept the imaginary circle S. [0032] Furthermore, in some embodiments of the present invention, only the bottom surface 38 can comprise an engaging surface 54 and cutting edges of the tip 48 can only be formed at the intersection of the top surface 36 with the two sharp corner surfaces 44. For these 'single-sided' embodiments of the cutting insert 30, as shown in Fig. 4, the primary engaging element 56 of the lower surface 38 can intersect the two sharp corner surfaces 44. [0033] Also, for these 'single-sided' modes of the cutting insert 30, each of the four secondary engaging elements 58 of the lower surface 38 can intercept the peripheral side surface 40. [0034] Furthermore, for these 'single-sided' modalities of the cutting insert 30, this cutting insert 30 can be described as 'positive', having four relief surfaces 46 angled inward in an outward direction from the upper surface 36. [0035] Alternatively, in some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Fig. 6, the cutting insert 30 'can be' double-sided ', with cutting edges of the tip 48 being formed at the intersection of both the upper and lower surfaces 36, 38 with the two sharp corner surfaces 44 and both the upper and lower surfaces 36, 38 comprising an engaging surface 54. [0036] It should be appreciated that the 'double-sided' 30 'cutting insert, having a total of four cutting edges of tip 48, provides greater economic efficiency. [0037] In addition, for these 'double-sided' modalities of cutting insert 30 ', cutting insert 30' can be described as 'negative' or 'neutral', having four relief surfaces 46 parallel to the axis of the insert Al. [0038] According to the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, the primary engagement element 56 has an elongated pair of primary engagement flank surfaces 60 and a vertically extended primary engagement plane P1. The primary coupling element 56 has mirrored symmetry around the primary coupling plane P1. [0039] In some embodiments of the present invention, the cutting insert 30, 30 'may have mirrored symmetry around the primary coupling plane P1. [0040] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, the two surface components of the primary engagement flank surface pair 60 can be separated by the primary engagement plane P1. [0041] In addition, in some embodiments of the present invention, the primary engagement element 56 may be V-shaped when viewed in a cross section perpendicular to the primary engagement plane P1. [0042] Furthermore, in some embodiments of the present invention, the two surface components of the primary engaging flank surface pair 60 may extend parallel to each other. [0043] It should be appreciated that the use of the term "V-shape" throughout the description and the claims, is not restricted to a pair of flank surfaces forming a 'V' shape and intersecting at a vertex point (when viewed in cross section), but it also contributes to an additional mutual surface spacing of the flank surface pair. [0044] In some embodiments of the present invention, the primary engagement element 56 may include a primary intermediate surface 62 spaced apart by the pair of primary engagement flank surfaces 60. [0045] According to the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, the primary coupling plane P1 contains the central geometric axis A1 and intersects each cutting edge of the tip 48. [0046] In some embodiments of the present invention, the primary coupling plane P1 may bisect each cutting edge of tip 48 and each cutting edge of tip 48 may have mirrored symmetry around the primary coupling plane P1. [0047] According to the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, each secondary engagement element 58 includes a secondary engagement portion 64, where the secondary engagement portion 64 has an elongated pair of secondary engagement flank surfaces 66 and a vertically extended secondary engagement plane P2. The secondary engagement portion 64 has mirrored symmetry around the secondary engagement plane P2. [0048] In some embodiments of the present invention, the two surface components of each pair of secondary engagement flank surfaces 66 may be separated by their respective secondary engagement plane P2. [0049] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, each secondary coupling element 58 may be V-shaped when viewed in a cross section perpendicular to its respective secondary coupling plane P2. [0050] In addition, in some embodiments of the present invention, the two surface components of each pair of secondary engaging flank surfaces 66 may extend parallel to each other. [0051] Furthermore, in some embodiments of the present invention, each secondary engagement portion 64 may include a secondary intermediate surface 68 spaced apart between its respective pair of secondary engagement flank surfaces 66. [0052] In some embodiments of the present invention, the four secondary engagement portions 64 may be identical to each other. [0053] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, each secondary coupling plane P2 may not be coplanar with the other three secondary coupling plans P2. However, pairs of secondary engagement portions 64 intercepting opposite relief surfaces 46 can be parallel to each other. This results in the four secondary engagement elements 58 constituting two pairs of parallel displaced secondary engagement elements 58, each pair having a member on each side of the primary engagement plane P1. [0054] In addition, in some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, each secondary engagement element 58 may be located entirely on one side of the primary engagement plane P1. For these embodiments of the present invention, two secondary coupling planes P2 of two secondary coupling elements 58 located on the same side of the primary coupling plane P1 can intersect at an intersection point I located on the opposite side of the primary coupling plane P1 . [0055] According to the present invention, a smaller vertical plane P3 contains the central geometric axis A1 and intersects the two obtuse corner surfaces 42. [0056] In some embodiments of the present invention, the minor vertical plane P3 can bisect each obtuse corner surface 42 and each obtuse corner surface 42 may have mirrored symmetry around the minor vertical plane P3. [0057] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, the cutting insert 30, 30 'may have mirrored symmetry around the minor vertical plane P3. [0058] Furthermore, in some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, each secondary engaging element 58 can be located entirely on one side of the minor vertical plane P3. [0059] Further, in some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, the primary engagement member 56 may comprise two primary engagement portions spaced apart 70 and the two primary engagement portions 70 may be located entirely on opposite sides of the minor vertical plane P3. For these embodiments of the present invention, the two primary engagement portions 70 can be separated by the holding hole 52. [0060] According to the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, each secondary engagement plane P2 does not contain the central geometry axis A1 and makes an acute engagement angle a with the primary engagement plane P1. [0061] In some embodiments of the present invention, the four coupling angles a associated with the four secondary coupling planes P2 may have the same value. [0062] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Figs. 4 and 6, each secondary coupling plane P2 can intercept with exactly two other secondary coupling planes P2 to form a total of four points of intersection I when viewed axially along the central geometric axis A1. [0063] For embodiments of the present invention having four points of intersection I, the four points of intersection I can form four imaginary corners CA, CO of an imaginary four-sided polygon R, as shown in Fig. 5. [0064] For these 'four-sided imaginary polygon' modalities of the present invention, the primary coupling plane P1 may contain two imaginary CO corners of the four-sided imaginary polygon R. [0065] Also, for these 'four-sided imaginary polygon' modalities of the present invention, the central geometric axis A1 may be located in the center of the four-sided imaginary polygon R. [0066] Furthermore, for these 'four-sided imaginary polygon' modalities of the present invention, the four-sided imaginary polygon R can be rhomboid in shape, having two diagonally opposed sharp imaginary corners CA and two diagonally opposed obtuse imaginary corners . For these 'rhomboid-shaped imaginary polygon' modalities of the present invention, as shown in Fig. 5, at each obtuse imaginary corner CO two imaginary sides 72 of the four-sided imaginary polygon R can intercept to form an obtuse polygon angle 0 and the primary coupling plane P1 may contain the two obtuse CO imaginary corners. The obtuse polygon angle 0 has a preferable range of 105 ° -135 °. [0067] According to the present invention, as shown in Fig. 3, the insert receiving cavity 26 comprises a support surface 74 having three support ridges and / or grooves 76, 78, the three ridges and / or grooves support elements 76, 78 comprising a single primary support element 76 and two secondary support elements 78. [0068] Also, according to the present invention, the top or bottom surface 36, 38 of the cutting insert 30, 30 'is pressed against the supporting surface 74 of the insert receiving cavity 26 only by the engaging element primer 56 making contact with primary support element 76; and two of the four secondary engaging elements 58 making contact with the two secondary supporting elements 78. [0069] In some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Fig. 2, except for the contact between the engagement elements 56, 58 and the support elements 76, 78, a gap G is formed between the operative upper or lower surface 36 , 38 and the support surface 74. [0070] In some embodiments of the present invention, the primary engagement element 56 may make contact with the primary support element 76 at least outside the imaginary circle S of the cutting insert 30, 30 '. [0071] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, where the primary engagement element 56 comprises two primary engagement portions spaced apart 70 located on opposite sides of the minor vertical plane P3, only the primary engagement portion 70 on the same side of the minor vertical plane P3 as the cutting edge of the operating tip 48 can make contact with the primary support element 76. [0072] Furthermore, in some embodiments of the present invention, the two secondary operating coupling elements 58, making contact with the two secondary supporting elements 78, can be located entirely on one side of the minor vertical plane P3 and the cutting edge of the operating tip 48 can be located on the other side of the smaller vertical plane P3. [0073] It should be appreciated that locating the two operative secondary coupling elements 58 on the opposite side of the minor vertical plane P3 in relation to the operative primary coupling portion 70 regularly distributes the clamping force, applied by the clamping member 32, among these three components and obtains stable three-point bonding. [0074] The regular distribution of the clamping force is also successfully achieved for embodiments of the present invention where the two operating secondary engagement elements 58 are located within the imaginary circle S and the operating primary engagement portion 70 makes contact with the engagement element. primary support 76 outside the imaginary circle S. [0075] In some embodiments of the present invention, as shown in Fig. 2, the cutting edge of the operating tip 48 can be subjected to a main cutting force F directed generally parallel to the central geometric axis A1, when the cutting tool 20 is used to cut a workpiece. [0076] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, the pair of primary engaging flank surfaces 60 of the primary engaging element 56 may make contact with a corresponding pair of primary supporting flank surfaces 80 on the primary supporting element 76 and each pair of secondary engaging flank surfaces 66 of two operating secondary engaging elements 58, making contact with the two secondary supporting elements 78, can make contact with a corresponding pair of secondary supporting flank surfaces 82 on one of the two secondary support elements 78. [0077] It should be appreciated that by configuring the four secondary coupling elements 58 in such a way that each secondary coupling plane P2 does not contain the central geometry axis A1, but makes a sharp angle a with the primary coupling plane P1, the corresponding secondary support elements 78 advantageously provide good resistance to lateral cutting force components at the cutting edge of the operating tip 48 directed outwardly from the central geometric axis A1. [0078] In some embodiments of the present invention, the primary and secondary engagement elements 56, 58 may be in the form of ridges and the primary and secondary support elements 76, 78 may be in the form of grooves. [0079] For embodiments of the present invention having the engaging surfaces 54 configured with primary and secondary engaging ridges 56, 58 and the supporting surface 74 configured with primary and secondary supporting grooves 76, 78, the supporting surface 74 it also includes support recesses 84 to accommodate the non-operating engagement ridges 56, 58 and portions thereof, such that the non-operating engagement ridges 56, 58 and portions thereof do not make any contact with the supporting surface 74. [0080] It should be appreciated that the support surface 74 being configured with primary and secondary support grooves 76, 78 and support recesses 84, allows the insert receiving cavity 26 to be manufactured more efficiently. [0081] In some embodiments of the present invention, the clamping hole 52 can open for both the upper and lower surfaces 36, 38 and the clamping member 32 can be in the form of a clamping screw 86 located in the clamping hole 52 and screwed into a threaded hole 88 on the support surface 74. [0082] Also, in some embodiments of the present invention, the peripheral side surface 40 may not make contact with the insert receiving cavity 26.
